The LEC is one of
the most difficult championships to win among all professional LoL
competitions. That’s because of all the players and teams in this region. All
teams in the LEC are good enough to become champions of it.
Results were almost
always the same, though. FNATIC and G2 were the kings of the European league,
both of them winning the LEC several times. Most people expected FNATIC or G2
to retake the title and contest this championship between themselves. However,
Rogue was also another favorite for the LEC champion’s title.

Overview
of the LEC Playoffs
Playoffs were a bit
problematic for some teams. The ones who qualified for it were Team Vitality,
FNATIC, G2, Misfits Gaming, Rogue, and MAD Lions. While all the teams named
below could have won the LEC, the favorites to do it were FNATIC, G2, or
Rogue.
Thanks to their
performance in the summer split, MAD Lions and Rogue had already qualified for
the playoffs' upper bracket. FNATIC and Vitality had to win to all the teams in
playoffs if they wanted to take the LEC title.
G2 wasn’t as good as
many expected it to be. Everyone wanted to see how good the team had become
after Rekkles joined it. However, even though Rekkles is one of the best ADCs
worldwide, G2 struggled a lot to even get to the playoffs. Yet, all its fans
had their hopes in it.
What
Happened to G2?
As we mentioned
before, G2 wasn’t as good as many fans expected. FNATIC, on the other hand, was
looking brighter than ever. Bwipo quickly got used to the JG role. The new
players of the team were also excelling at everything they did. The three of
them did an excellent job even after many people criticized them and told them
they could never get to the playoffs.
FNATIC managed to
take G2 out from playoffs and Worlds, so MAD didn’t have to worry about it.
Against
Rogue – What Makes MAD Lions This Good?
The semifinals of
MAD Lions against Rogue were surprisingly one-sided for the MAD Lions players.
They destroyed all the hopes Rogue fans had to win the championship. A 3-0 is
not something easy to achieve against Rogue. MAD did it.
MAD’s success is
because of its top-notch players and how they combine all their strength to
overcome the direst situations. Humanoid is the star of this team. He’s
currently considered one of the best mid lanners in the world. That’s because
of how oppressive he is in the early game and how much he roams to other lanes.
Carzzy and Kaiser
make a strong bot lane that, while not being the strong side of MAD matches,
can do good against the best players in the region. Armut and Elyoya are total
beasts of the rift. The top-side domination is what gives MAD most games.
That’s what made
them win against Rogue and beat FNATIC in the finals. The series against
FNATIC finished 3-1 in favor to MAD Lions.

Line – MAD Lions Heading to Worlds
MAD Lions is now one
of the best teams in the region. Not a single team in playoffs was a match to it.
However, now MAD players have to prove how good they are against international
