Now that you are ready to play Valorant, what tools do you need to
purchase for a successful first round of this team-based tactical shooter game?
Knowing what to buy is a critical skill. The game has an in-game currency known
as Credits or Creds that need to be managed properly. Credits are used to
purchase the necessary weapons, abilities, shields, and gifts for teammates
before the beginning of each round during the Buy Phase.
How Much Credit Do You Get
at the Beginning in Valorant?
Before starting the first match, players select an Agent or character
with a specific set of abilities. Each match is composed of several rounds
whereby the first team to win 13 rounds is declared the winner of the match.
At the beginning of the game, every player starts off with a Classic handgun
and 800 credits they manage independently. Managing these Credits is part of
the tactical skills that determine a win in the long run. The players are given
a limited amount of time to purchase what they need for the round during the
buying phase of the game. Players can buy weapons and armor during this phase.
What to Buy in the First
Round
First you access the Valorant shop by the push of a button. Buying is
not a must in Valorant but knowing what to buy and when to buy it can help players
and their team earn more Credits and gain an upper hand. A player and their
team members have to decide which purchases can give them the best possible
performance, or postpone a purchase would put them in a better overall position
in the second round. Additional Credits can be earned during a round through
the kills, planting of Spikes, and the overall win or lose.
·
The Weapon
A player can choose to purchase an additional weapon,
but also might opt to use the free Classic pistol awarded to them at the
beginning of the game. Most players choose to proceed with the free sidearm in
order to save their Creds for the following rounds. Although there are indeed
better weapons that can produce more effective kills in the first round, the
Classic pistol performs well, requiring two headshot wounds for a kill.
A popular weapon of choice in the first round is the
Ghost pistol, which increases the player's ability to execute a kill as the
Ghost pistol only requires one headshot wound. It does cost quite a sum,
however, limiting the buying options of the player.
·
Skills
Each Agent comes into the game with a unique ability
that players can maximize during a round. Players can study the range of skills
the most useful in the first round and purchase those particular ones. Additional
skills can still be bought in later rounds.
·
Armor
At this point, players in
the first round can only purchase light armor which requires quite a chunk,
going for 400 Credits. Armor can provide a significant advantage in the first
round.
Managing your finances in Valorant is a summation of a player’s
experience, how well they know the game, have mastered the skills to execute
the game with accuracy and precision, and the ability to predict their
opponent’s moves and counter them. As players gain experience, they can
maximize their character's abilities and their marksmanship when it comes to
getting kills. Players must make the best buying tradeoffs to gain the
advantage they need to win the game.
