What You Need to Know About the PS5

9/24/2023

2020 is becoming one of the most exciting years for gamers from all around the world! With the release dates of both the next-gen Xbox and PlayStation, players are eager to buy one as soon as they become available in stores. However, some people still don't know all the benefits of a next-gen console aside that it's a new console.

The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is coming with many new features, upgraded graphics, better performance, and a new and modern design. While those are the basics, there are still many things to be discovered about the PS5, and that's what this article is for. If you want to know everything about the PS5, keep reading!

 PS5 Release Date

The release date for this console was announced recently, along with many game trailers and developer interviews. As of today, the PS5 is getting a staggered release starting on November 12 in Canada, Australia, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, and the US. The rest of the world is getting the first wave of consoles on November 19.

The PS5 is going to be released just two days after the Xbox Series X/S, which are arriving on November 10. Considering that Sony is allowing pre-orders, the difference in release dates is unlikely to affect sales.

PS5 Price

The PS5 is coming in two editions: "Standard" and "Digital Edition." The standard edition got a fixed price of $499 / £449, whereas the digital edition got a considerable cost reduction, starting at $399 / £349. The main difference between the two models is that the standard edition comes with a disk reader, and the digital one does not.

If you're a user who doesn't mind having an all-digital console, going for the digital edition can save you a lot of money you can spend on games or extra accessories.

PS5 Design

Sony went with a more "modern" design with this gen's console. Both the standard and the digital editions come with a white and black color variation, which looks amazing. On the other hand, the curved design of the console is an interesting move from Sony. Overall, the console looks amazing.

As for the controller, the DualSense looks slightly bulkier to the PS4's DualShock 4, but it maintains the same button layout. As a bonus, it's also getting some new features such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, a "create" button, and a built-in microphone.

PS5 Games

As of today, these are some of the launching titles that have been announced by Sony:

  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Devil May Cry 5 (Special Edition)

This is a short overview, as many other games are also coming to the PS5 when it launches!
